What single adjustment can you make to grow your business?

I’m hearing signs of improvements in the economy, and now’s the time to take advantage of increasing attention from potential customers.

You probably know intuitively where your new customers are coming from, and that’s the first place where a small business owner might want to focus. If you don’t know where new customers are coming from, it’s a matter of a simple question: “So where did you hear about us?”

With that information, here are a few ideas for cultivating new business:

  • Can you add to your email contacts or find better content to make email campaigns more effective?
  • Does your company website need an update?
  • Is it time you consider a new product line or service? Could you use more staff to cultivate that business? If so, don’t forget to consider the insurance ramifications; chat with your insurance agent about changes you might need to make to your policies.
  • How about getting more involved in your community? On top of the benefit of helping others, it’s an outstanding way to network with other professionals and meet prospects.
  • What can you do to expand your reach with social media? Is it worth your time and trouble?
  • Explore boosting your company’s prominence in online search engines.
  • Can you start seeking testimonials? Ask a few satisfied customers for a few words of praise.
  • Same goes with referrals. How can you approach existing customers about requesting referrals?

Here’s to a robust 2013.
